The
Partnership is a public purpose, nonprofit 501 (c)4 corporation
with the mission to develop and implement strategies and programs
that accelerate the growth of advanced transportation technologies.
Established
in 1994, The Partnership works closely with transportation
and transit agencies, federal, state and local government,
air quality agencies and the private sector in the implementation
and operation of various strategies that play a role of improving
air quality, reducing congestion and improving transportation
system performance.
Over
the years the Partnership has established a meaningful Application
Service Provider (ASP) service utilizing Internet web applications.
Meaning that third parties, customers, clients, consumers
and interested parties can supply and access information housed
on The Partnership's and partner's hosted web and data servers.
The
Partnership operates the ASP service in the Los Angeles region
for online web based transit trip planning itinerary services
using the brand names TranStar, TANN, VCTC Transit routing,
Metrolink Itineraries and in Jacksonville Florida, the Jacksonville
Transit Authority Trip Planner. This transit itinerary service
provides the transit operators and the general public with
a convenient cost effective access to regional transit schedules
and requested transit itineraries.
The
ASP service, Travel Advisory News Network (TANN), was created
5 years ago in partnership with Caltrans, OCTA, MTC, AZTECH
and other public agencies plus the private sector to supply
web based real time traffic congestion speeds, incidents,
and camera images displayed on maps that appear on third party
web sites. PDAs, WAP phones and broadcast television systems
such as KABC7-TV in Los Angeles.
